What NCERT Class 7 maths covers
| Chapter | Topic | Why It Matters Later |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Integers | Full integer operations; addition, subtraction, multiplication, division |
| 2 | Fractions and Decimals | Unlike fraction operations, fraction × fraction, decimal operations |
| 3 | Data Handling | Mean, median, mode, bar graphs, probability introduction |
| 4 | Simple Equations | Solving equations with one variable; direct algebra foundation |
| 5 | Lines and Angles | Angle relationships, parallel lines; geometry backbone |
| 6 | The Triangle and Its Properties | Angle sum, inequality, types; tested heavily in Class 8-9 |
| 7 | Congruence of Triangles | SSS, SAS, ASA, RHS; essential for Class 9 proofs |
| 8 | Comparing Quantities | Ratio, proportion, percentages, profit/loss |
| 9 | Rational Numbers | Extending integers to fractions on the number line |
| 10 | Practical Geometry | Constructions with ruler and compass |
| 11 | Perimeter and Area | Circle area and circumference, composite figures |
| 12 | Algebraic Expressions | Terms, coefficients, like terms; pre-Class 8 algebra |
| 13 | Exponents and Powers | Laws of exponents; foundation for Class 8-9 |
| 14 | Symmetry | Rotational symmetry |
| 15 | Visualising Solid Shapes | 3D visualisation, nets |
The three chapters that matter most
Chapter 2 (Fractions and Decimals). This is where unlike fractions like 1/3 + 1/4, fraction multiplication, and decimal operations all converge. If your child’s Class 6 fraction understanding was procedural, this chapter exposes it.
Chapter 1 (Integers). Full operations with negative numbers. The sign rules for multiplication and division trip up most children. Understanding has to be built on the number line and patterns, not just memorised rules.
Chapter 4 (Simple Equations). Your child’s first real algebra experience — solving for x. The balance scale method makes this intuitive. Memorised transposition rules without understanding collapse in Class 8.
How GuruMode supports Class 7
GuruMode follows every Class 7 NCERT chapter in sequence. The missions use interactive visual methods — fraction bars for unlike fractions, number lines for integers, balance scales for equations. When your child makes a specific error like adding denominators, the app catches it and routes to targeted recovery.
You see “Strong on fraction multiplication. Still weak on adding fractions with different denominators.”
Try the chapter as an interactive mission.
